Angelus: Piano Trio

Angelus requires a small audio speaker to be placed, unseen,inside the piano. Twice in Angelus, audio

is subtlyheard through this speaker – ideally being perceptible as an unnaturalextension of the piano’s

resonanceat the time. The audio is sent to the speaker (via Bluetooth) from a discreetphone or mp3 player,

to behandled by the pianist. Start times and fades are noted in the score.

Thepianist should be able to do this, but it is also possible for another person,not playing, to discreetly

start andfaded the audio from within the audience. A simple app like ‘Anytune’ willsuffice.

The audioshould definitely not be played through front-of-house speakers or the built-inaudio system

of thevenue.

Veryimportant: turn on the Bluetoothspeaker well in advance of the performance, so that the piano

doesn’temit a loud “Bluetooth Speaker On!” announcement just before the performancestarts.
