Last Days of March (album) with Various
Overview
A project triggered by the restrictions imposed in the early days of Covid. I came up with a string track and offered it to friends and collaborators to respond how they wished. Here's the original string track I sent out:
I didn't imagine it really going anywhere but I received such extraordinary creations it made sense to release them.
The five tracks that made the EP are:
Solitude in Decay: Jack Hooker
Last Days of March: Xela (Alex Ware)
Last Days of March: Serj Tankian and Oum
Back to the 90s: Hydrabitch (Briar Prastiti)
Blind to Sight: Russel Walder
Shortly after releasing the EP Adam Page, Serj Tankian, and I created an additional version:
Last Days of March - Alternative Version - now on Spotify:
And this version went on to inspire the middle movement of the saxophone concerto Adam and I created, called Call of the Wild
I think every one of these tracks is fantastic. This outcome inspired Jack Hooker and I to then apply for funding from Creative New Zealand, which resulted in the extaordinary multi-genre multi-generational album It's Already Tomorrow
The original string track was a gift that just kept on giving......

Collaborators: Jack Hooker, Xela, Serj Tankian, Oum, HYDRABITCH, OUM, Russel Walder
