The sun stings, the air shimmers, the earth breathes heavily. A warm breeze blows, a single leaf falls from a branch. Then silence. The calm before the storm?
In their concert-lecture performance, the members of the Youth Advisory Board explore the fragile moment just before a summer thunderstorm. Alternating between music and dialogue, they explore the fleeting nature of the moment, which threatens to quickly change in the oppressive humidity. A downpour, thunder, and wind that stir everything up. And on the horizon?
With a shimmering cello by Sofia Gubaidulina, John Psatha's swirling and crashing percussion, the fiery rhythms of Astor Piazzolla and other music, the Youth Council invites you to encounter the forces of nature, to pause for just a breath and listen carefully.
