Gémeaux” Percussion Duo is a Japanese percussion duo group formed by Leo Shibanuma and Anzu Harigai.

The name was taken from Toru Takemitsu’s orchestral piece Gémeaux. As the name suggests, their aim is to focus on performing contemporary music.

In their concert series CROSSWHEN, they curate works to be performed not only by themselves but also together with other musicians, exploring the possibilities of contemporary music.

This concert takes place in Shibanuma’s hometown, Mito City in Ibaraki Prefecture.

The program includes Toru Takemitsu’s Cross Hatch, Masanori Kato’s new work They may be alike, as well as solo performances by each member. Shibanuma will perform Ben Nobuto’s Three Studies, which will receive its first complete performance in Japan.

The main work on the program is John Psathas’s Muisca (arr. Omar Carmenates). For details and updates on upcoming performances, please check their social media (X, Instagram: @gemeaux_duoperc).
