As a musician’s instrumental proficiency develops, so too does their artistic taste and temperament. Each ANAM musician’s recital is a snapshot in time – simultaneously summarising their year of training and revealing glimpses of their future selves. What music excites them? What do they want to communicate? How does their art help them understand the world better? Hear what the next generation of virtuosi have to say, and how, in the 2026 ANAM Recital series.

MOSAIC
"Mosaic: fragments of small different pieces; varying shapes, textures and colours that, although insignifiicant in themselves, when put together, create a powerful and personal story.

This recital is my mosaic. Fragments exploring different colours, textures and styles that takes the audience through a story of their own.

This recital features two of my favourite instruments to program in a performance: Marimba and Vibraphone.

I will be joined by my talented colleagues from the Percussion and String departments at ANAM, playing works including a Marimba concerto and Watercolor Sun by Ivan Trevino.

In a poignant and perhaps nostalgic nod to my homeland of Aotearoa New Zealand, I've also programmed New Zealand composers John Psathas and Salina Fisher, with some beautiful percussion, clarinet, and violin chamber work.

I hope you can join me to hear the fragments that make up my story, including quite literally, John Psathas' Fragment." — Caleb Goldsmith
